A certified executive life coach, Marvin Dexter Moore has interacted in the entertainment, business and faith-based sectors for over 25 years. Educated at the historic Tuskegee University, Moore evolved from pursuing a career as a performance musician to becoming one of the nation’s top performing rights executives.
As a member of Broadcast Music Inc’s (BMI) executive team, his responsibility was to develop and increase the catalogue and position of the company within the urban and pop music markets. His efforts contributed to BMI’s realization of an annual revenue increase of over $200 million dollars. He was directly responsible for signing the performing rights of and/or maintaining strong relations with many superstar artist/songwriters including Michael Jackson, Babyface, Janet Jackson, Luis Miguel, Anita Baker, Jamie Foxx, MC Hammer, Tupac Shakur and Toni Braxton just to name a few. A combination of effective communication, knowledge of the industry as well as the ability to satisfy the needs of the company and client, established Dexter Moore as a key industry player.
Dexter Moore co-wrote, co-produced and performed on a groundbreaking children’s concept album and animated video featuring Natalie Cole entitled “Nursey Raps, Starring Mama Goose.” Many of the songs became children radio program favorites.
Dexter’s entrepreneurial drive led him to; become a Partner and CEO of Griot Records, created to manufacture, distribute, market and promote independent record labels, a consultant and interim President for Point 7 Records, an Atlanta-based production company, which has produced programming for major networks such as Showtime, NBC and Turner South, as well as producer and songwriter for his own Give Me Moore Music Production company.
Dexter Moore caught the attention of Motown founder, the legendary Berry Gordy. Mr. Gordy recruited him as Vice President for the Jobete/Stone Diamond Music Publishing Company’s creative division. During his tenure, Dexter was responsible for the creation, staffing and management of the division. Under his management, this division was responsible for more than thirty recordings by artists from Alabama to Aretha Franklin.
Not only has Marvin Dexter Moore’s varied industry contacts and business sense brought him success, but his passion for relationship and human connection have served as key ingredients to both his professional and personal lives.
Marvin Dexter Moore serves as a spiritual and strategic adviser for Los Angeles-based Mosaic Westside, a faith community with over 800 members. As the lay counselor in residence, he is devoted to the well being of the congregation, regarding issues over conflict resolution, family planning, marriage, parenting, money management as well as life goals. He serves on the leadership teams for Small Groups and Celebrate Recovery, a rehabilitation program for people with chemical and alcoholic substance abuse. His dedication to spiritual, physical and emotional wholeness is manifested through the healing of those who have experienced his genuine care and powerful testimony regarding his own personal journey. He demonstrates his enthusiasm towards people through his attentiveness and acknowledgment of an individual’s uniqueness.
Mr. Moore lives in Los Angeles with his wife of twenty five years and their teenage son.
